At the start of the event, taking place in Madrid, De la Peña stated that they will promote Santiago as a World Cup venue with an eye on the FIFA 2026 Cup, which will be held from July 11 to July 19, 2026. "We are happy to be able to come to represent Santiago and, above all, to show the world that Santiago, Nuevo León, will be a host city for FIFA 2026," he expressed. "We are very happy to be here representing our beautiful 'magical town' and to be able to boost sustainable tourism in our municipality." Along with the Secretary of Tourism of the State, Maricarmen Martínez, the mayor pointed out that during their stay in Madrid they will seek alliances with tourism operators, investors, and other municipalities that bet on sustainable tourism with social impact. As part of the Municipality of Santiago's participation in FITUR, the book "Discover Santiago" will be distributed among attendees, and a promotional video will be shared, which is accessed via a QR code to avoid paper use, as an ecological measure.
